The vidyalaya has a well equipped library with a god collection of books about 6200, a subscription of about 42 periodicals and 7 newspapers. Lately, a computer system was installed in the library to make available the list of library books, references and websites along with the installation of the Encarta and Britannica Encyclopedia. The national book week celebration was organized and held for the benefit of the children to inculcate a reading habit, to venerate the wisdom of the ages and encourage them to love books. There is a Career Corner for the students of professional interest to equip them with advance knowledge about their career aptitude and selection.
The pursuit of excellence in academics is given a fillip by giving computer training to the students in MS WORD, POWER POINT, EXCEL, BASIC, DOS, C++, WINDOWS AND INTERNET. Reference to the websites is really enriching the student's community; with the procurement of additional computers and high power UPS to support the Ethernet and VSAT connectivity to the multiple LAN systems. In the computer lab, the staffs, trained by INTEL and Microsoft Project Shiksha are utilizing the computer multimedia program to make the teaching learning process more effective and less laborious. The Faculty Cum System Administrator (FCSA) is providing all possible preliminary training and advanced practice during the scheduled class hours in the computer lab itself and class room under his guidance and supervision 
The unit of scouts and guides of school comprising of 32 students each are actively undertaking various pace - setting activities as part of National Adventure Porgam.The unit sent its 4 participants for the National Adventure Program in the coming March.
The Vidyalaya keeps its banner flying afloat in sports and games with athletes and players bringing a rich harvest of medals in the cluster level, regional level and national level meets. The Vidyalaya came out as third in the cluster level athletic meet. Twenty athletes participated in the regional sports meet registering the reputation of the school in the sports field.
Regular evening games consisting of volley ball, foot ball, hand ball etc are conducted under the constant presence and training of two committed physical education teachers, being a male and a female for taking care of the boys and girls and their sports talents.


Art room is in full function with the young artists actively taking interest in the creative construction of things of art value under the dynamic inspiration of a regular art teacher. An art gallery has come in to being with the results of the children's creative innovations.
a puppet workshop was conducted as a opart of art in education programme. about 30 students took part and came out with a puppet drame'thamasoma jyothirgamaya'.

The Vidyalaya mess is another region of great experience of happiness and contentment for the students and staff as a result of the quality food served in the mess at the dedicated service of the mess staff guided by a committed catering assistant. The mess menu is faithfully followed in accordance with the taste and nutritional requirements of the growing children.
A mess committee is supervising over the quality and quantity of the mess menu by procuring the standard items and provisions of food articles for the mess from approved civil supply agencies of the government .
The concept of a smart class room is an innovation in the field of education and it is immediately introduced in the Vidyalaya to speed up the creative and innovative activities of the teachers and students to make the teaching-learning a pleasant and easy process. The school now has the facility of having its technology aided class in the newely designed resource room which can accommodate 50 students with a computer, LCD projector, television with DTH connection and other multimedia facilities

Computer Education Programme
JNV Kannur has a very good Computer lab with full time internet facility. Almost all teachers are trained from reputed computer companies such as INTEL, MICROSOFT etc. They are providing education through computer effectivly to the children.
The main objectives of computer education programme of the vidyalayas are-
1) Facilitate the students to learn on continuous basis from class 6 to 12.
2) Create computer culture and consciousness among the young rural students.
3) Familiarize the students with different range of computer applications and help them to understand the
potential of information technology in learning process
4) Empower the teachers to use the computer as one of their teaching aid.
5) Provide hands on experience to students
6) Improve the capacities of the children in terms of their performance in scholastic and non-scholastic
activities.
7) Integrate Information Technology with classroom transactions.
